Run for home....

It's absolutely bucketing down today. Luckily I did see the forecast yesterday so was prepared for the rain and went for my run session after breakfast time at about 9.30am. and was back home and in the bath before the rain started. I know the time will come when I have no choice but to venture out in the rain to run - but I'd rather avoid it as much as possible.

So - week 2 of C25K began today. I was slightly dreading it -  90 sec runs instead of 60 secs -  but also excited about trying to run a bit more. It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. Last weeks program taught me how to run comfortably and not to go too fast so I was straight into an easy pace and was comfortable with the 90 seconds running and again if pushed I felt could have done a bit more. By the final 90 second run I was ready for it to end though!! I could have gone on and done another couple, I wasn't ready to drop, but I was feeling it, much more so than last week. I also had a corker headache and still have a bit of a sore mouth from the fillings - it didn't stop me enjoying the run but it did make me a bit happier than usual that it was over when it ended. I may have to investigate other ways of putting my hair back for days when I may have a bit of a headache as a ponytail makes it worse - yes I know that sounds weird but anyone with long hair will tell you having it tied back tightly when you have a headache just adds to the headache! pigtails or a soft headband and a loose ponytail might be better - as long as it is back off my face so I can see clearly. I was also quite cold!! Not once I got into the running but at the beginning and a couple of times when I was doing the 2 min fast pace walking I was not that warm. I may have to investigate an outer layer for running when its cooler - its going to cool off come September/October time so I need to be prepared. I need Aldi to have some of their fab running clothing in the weekly offers quite soon - they must be due some about now?

I ran with the NHS week 2 podcast, which includes a couple of tips on running style and breathing - very useful and took my mind off the running a bit while I concentrated on trying to breathe properly, bonus! I also ran with the iPod in the new arm band which was fab  - no more panic that it was going to fall out of my bra!! The postie brought the my Nike+ kit this morning while I was actually out running - excellent timing - so haven't tried that out yet, but will investigate it and have it ready to use on Mondays session.

Verdict for week 2s first session - I'm enjoying it, I'm managing it ok, I'm still keen and looking forward to the next session. It's all good.
