One of my personal goals for 2011 is to read at least one new book a month. I have a terrible habbit of re-reading books that I love and enjoy (mostly Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Tom Holt, Jilly Cooper, Ian Rankin ones and lots of biographys) which is fine but not expanding my knowledge in any way. I read lots. I could read a lot more but try and do other things while I'm upright like housework and papercrafting - lol! - so reading is saved for in bed before sleep! I got a pile of books from my Amazon wishlist for Christmas which Im hoping to get read before our holiday at Easter so here is my reading list for Jan-March:
Nella Lasts War: The diaries of 'Housewife 49'
Band of Brothers - Stephen E. Ambrose
Halfway To Hollywood: Diaries 1980 to 1988 - Michael Palin
Robbie - Sean Smith
Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything - Elizabeth Gilbert
The Help - Katherine Sockett
I have already finished Nella Lasts War and am part way through Band of Brothers. I also have 2 Patricia Cornwells to read (Scarpetta and Scarpetta factor) on loan from Sandra who Pete works with to fit in at some point!
I might just keep The Help back to be read while on the cruise, its small and paperback and OK to fit in my hand luggage. Not that I have a lot of time to read while on holiday but theres not much else to do on the plane, and while Tom's in Kidzone and its happy hour - a glass of wine and sit in the evening sun with your book is very pleasant! It seems such a long way away still, especially in this awful biting cold weather we are having. I got snowed on again today when I nipped into Blyth for some bits and bobs. It was very very cold, which was possibly useful for once because one of the things I needed was frozen diced carrot and swede to make soup, so at least it didn't start to defrost on the way home!!
